Since its founding in 2024, the Panamerican Congress has continued to grow as a platform for democratic coordination and hemispheric cooperation among legislators and public leaders from across the Americas.
From Bogotá to Mexico City, and from Rio de Janeiro to New York City, the Congress has promoted seminars, international meetings and preparatory activities focused on democracy, sovereignty, development and regional cooperation.

UNGA Mujica Tribute
Alongside the Foro Iniciativa Mujica and New York University’s Remarque Institute, the Panamerican Congress co-organised an international tribute to former Uruguayan President José “Pepe” Mujica during the United Nations General Assembly. The event brought together heads of state, legislators and civil society leaders from different countries to reflect on democracy, political leadership and hemispheric cooperation.

Productive Integration and Green Industrial Policy
The first preparatory activity toward Montevideo 2026 brought together ministers, legislators, experts and activists from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Paraguay and Uruguay to move from diagnosis toward concrete proposals on industrialisation, regional value chains and productive sovereignty. The encounter was organised by 14 organisations, including Rumbo Colectivo, Fundação Perseu Abramo and the Global Fund for a New Economy.

Organized alongside Rumbo Colectivo, this preparatory seminar toward Montevideo 2026 focused on productive integration, green industrial policy and regional coordination as tools to address climate change, technological transformation and the fragmentation of global supply chains. Discussions explored industrial policy, strategic sectors, regional value chains and democratic responses to the new global economic landscape.

As the third preparatory encounter toward Montevideo 2026, this discussion —held alongside the Broadbent Institute— will address artificial intelligence, platform power and democratic approaches to digital sovereignty in the Americas. Conversations will focus on technological concentration, public regulation, democratic control of digital infrastructures and the political impact of emerging technologies.

Focused on democratic cooperation and regional security, the fourth preparatory encounter toward Montevideo 2026 will address multilateralism, authoritarianism, organized crime and geopolitical fragmentation across the hemisphere.
